Jonathan Kent
Jonathan Kent (1961-2006) was the patriarch of the Kent family, husband of Martha Kent and adoptive father of Clark Kent.
Jonathan was the son of Hiram and Jessica Kent. He lived in Smallville on the Kent Farm his whole life. Jonathan attended Smallville High School and was the star of the football team. During this time, he dated Nell Potter.
Jonathan met Martha Clark at Metropolis University. Martha asked Jonathan for some notes, even though she was the note-taker for the class. When Martha asked how he knew she would return them, Jonathan told her, "I prefer to believe in people," and they began dating. Later, Jonathan asked Martha's father, William Clark, for her hand in marriage, but William rejected him, saying he had raised his daughter for better things than being a farmer's wife. Out of anger, Jonathan hit William and he and Martha married anyway. He and William remained estranged until Jonathan's death. Jonathan and Martha managed the Kent Farm together and were respected members of the Smallville community.
Martha was not able to conceive a child in the early years of her marriage, but that never interfered with the depth and closeness of their relationship. Their marriage was strong, molded from mutual respect and the hard work and long hours of running a farm.
Jonathan died of heart failure on January 26, 2006, around age 45, the night he was elected Kansas State Senator.
Martha Kent
Senator Martha Clark Kent is the widow of the late Jonathan Kent, adoptive mother of Clark Kent, and US Senator for the state of Kansas.
Martha is the daughter of William Clark, a lawyer. Martha grew up in Metropolis and met Jonathan Kent while they both attended a finance class at Metropolis University. She made up an excuse to talk to him, asking him for some notes, even though she was the note-taker for the class. When she asked how he knew that she would give them back, Jonathan told her that he believed in the goodness of people, and Martha said that this statement made her fall in love with him.
When Jonathan asked William Clark for permission to marry his daughter, William stated that he wanted more for Martha than to marry a poor farmer. Jonathan impulsively and angrily hit William and the two remained estranged until Jonathan's death. After they adopted Clark, Martha and Jonathan decided together not to tell her father Clark's secret. Because of this, Martha's relationship with her parents remains strained and distant. Before she married Jonathan, she had an unspecified career in business, but when she and Jonathan got married against her father's wishes, she moved to Smallville with Jonathan. Jonathan and Martha managed the Kent Farm together growing organic produce.
After Jonathan's sudden death, Martha took his position in the Kansas State Senate. She served for over a year until the death of Senator Ed Burke. With Lionel Luthor's endorsement, Martha took Burke's US Senate position and moved to Washington, DC, to fulfill her duties.
Lucy Lane
Lucy Lane first appeared on the television series Smallville in the season four episode "Lucy"; she was played by Peyton List. In this version, Lucy has been attending school in Europe for some time, and has consequently been out of touch with her sister Lois. Lucy tells Lois and Clark that she is on the run from a German loan shark named Macus Becker. After initially trying to help her, Lois and Clark discover that Lucy is using their friendship with Lex Luthor to con him out of money to pay off her debt. Lucy is resentful of her sister's relationship with their father, and was also using this opportunity to get some revenge on her. Becker decides to hold the two sisters for ransom, but they are rescued when Clark intercepts the truck and stops it. Lucy sneaks away when Lex arrives with the police and speeds off in his Mercedes. She is not seen again and is in Berlin, Germany.
Chloe Sullivan
Chloe Ann Sullivan is a fictional character from the television series Smallville, played by Allison Mack. Chloe was introduced by the show's creators to be a "Lois Lane archetype" (but not Lois herself). She was created independently of the canonical DC Comics Universe,[1] DC Comics had announced that they would introduce a comics version of Chloe Sullivan to the mainstream continuity of DC Comics in Superman #674 and 675 in March and April of 2008, but the plan fell through.[2]
Chloe is reporter and editor at Smallville High School's The Torch newspaper (named after Superman creator Jerry Siegel's school paper). She was in the same grade as Clark Kent, Pete Ross, and Lana Lang. At one time, Chloe maintained the "Wall of Weird", a collection of articles concerning the bizarre and eerie events that take place in Smallville, many of which are related to the mutagenic effects of kryptonite left over from the meteor shower of 1989.
Recently, Chloe found that she had the power to heal people. Shortly thereafter, after Lex Luthor bought the Daily Planet, he fired her.
General Sam Lane
Lieutenant General Samuel "Sam" Lane is the father of Lois Lane and Lucy Lane.
When Chloe Sullivan and her father were put in protective custody, Lex Luthor managed to get General Lane in to shield her from the blast when they got into the "safe" house. He and Lois left the country in order to locate his younger daughter Lucy, but it is unclear if their efforts were successful.
General Lane also provided Chloe with covert surveillance equipment to help Clark Kent infiltrate the LuthorCorp building and rescue his family in Mortal.
General Lane continues his duties as a three-star military general. In Prototype, Lois told Clark and Chloe that he loved Wes Keenan. Wes was the only soldier that General Sam ever respected.
